#ClosedOnThe7th – For this year’s commemoration, AAASC began the “Closed on the 7th” Campaign in which we encouraged Assyrian businesses to be closed on that day and place this sign on the window. Such campaigns create a sense of solidarity among ourselves while at the same time educating others about the plight we have suffered and of the fight for justice and recognition.
If other countries honor their Memorial Day by closing, then why shouldn’t we? It’s vital that other communities are made aware of the Genocide against our people over 100 years ago and how the struggle continues today under a similar evil. We demand justice and recognition.
Special thanks to all the businesses who partook in the campaign!
