How long have you been in your profession?
5 Years.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love to bring people together in the kitchen whether we are all cooking together or eating together. I strive to cultivate an energetic and exciting vibe anywhere around me in the kitchen. Feeding people and giving back is something that is in my blood. I watched my nana do it for years, so it only came natural to me. I love to entertain so that’s where the hosting comes in! I'll feed you and make you laugh; we’ll dance and just have an overall great time!
What is your biggest accomplishment so far?
My biggest accomplishment was moving out of my hometown (Turlock) and into Los Angeles and making something out of myself. It’s so easy to get stuck doing the same thing every day and to be comfortable with that, but I know I wanted and needed something different, I wasn’t going to settle for a regular life. It was important for me to break generational curses and become the change my family needed. I know my ancestors would be proud of the woman I am today.
How do you define success?
I define success by the strength, determination, will and confidence that I show up with every day, not only as a business owner but as a daughter and friend as well, no matter if I’m tired, sick, or even overworked, my people can count on me to never let them down, and most importantly to never let myself down. Failure is not an option, in fact it fuels me to keep pushing for my success every day. I create change in and around me daily. I never will give up, and I never will stop believing in myself because I know God has great things in store.
When you're not working, how do you enjoy spending your time?
When I'm not working, I like to go to the beach to recharge with friends with a bowl of fruit and a deck of cards to play con can with (but I’m normally sun tanning while they play). I love to do anything self-care related such as going on hikes, reading, or going to a spa.
What advice would you give someone who is looking to get into this field?
The advice I would give someone who is looking to get into the culinary field is to just get ready to WORK. If you can’t stand the heat, well you know the rest! Be willing to get out of your head and just create. Don’t be afraid to mess up because that’s what makes us better people in general. If catering, personal cheffing, working in a restaurant, etc. is what you want then start today! The first step I took was my best step, and I’ve been working on it every day. Sometimes we can’t see where we will end up but believe in yourself that as long as you put one foot in front of the other and commit yourself and are determined you will and can making anything happen.
What is a fun fact about yourself?
I played softball for 12 years!
